Anti-Mullerian Hormone Blood Test

The ovaries produce anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), which serves as an indicator of ovarian reserve levels. In other words, it helps estimate the number of viable eggs left and aids in evaluating reproductive capacity.

At Sonoclinic, we perform AMH blood tests for several reasons, such as:

  • You are considering or undergoing IVF and have been advised to check AMH levels.
  • To assess if your ovarian reserve aligns with what is typical for your age.
  • As part of examinations into polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
  • To gain insight into future fertility, though it cannot provide a conclusive answer.

AMH is a hormone released by ovarian follicles and remains present till menopause. It can be measured at any stage of the menstrual cycle and is still detectable even while using oral contraception.

How to Prepare for Your Blood Test Appointment

  • Stay hydrated. Take a lot of water in the 24 hours leading up to your test to ensure an easier blood draw.
  • Wear loose-fitting clothing that enables access to both arms and hands.
  • If you take anticoagulants, waiting until after your appointment is best. If necessary, you may take them beforehand, but only if essential.
  • If you’re worried about needles, let your provider know—they will help you stay calm to ensure a smooth, quick procedure.

Schedule your AMH blood test with us and take the next step in managing your health with confidence.
