Elbow and Forearm Scan
At Sonoclinic, we provide elbow and forearm scans to evaluate one elbow for a variety of conditions. We also use the ultrasound scan to examine the joint, tendons, muscles, bursa, ligaments, and surrounding soft tissue.
Purpose of the Scan
The elbow and forearm scan is available for individuals aged 16 and over and is conducted by our experienced sonographer. It helps determine the underlying cause of problems like:
- Elbow discomfort
- Potential injuries
- Tendon inflammation
It may as well be useful in diagnosing conditions such as:
- Tennis or golfer’s elbow
- Tendinosis
- Olecranon bursitis
- Degenerative issues like arthritis
In some cases, our sonographers assess the opposite elbow for comparison if necessary. But this is entirely at their discretion.
What to Expect
Following your scan, you will receive:
- A thorough written report that includes suggestions for the next actions.
- Physical copies of your scan images as well as a diagnostic report.
- If necessary, we can also email your scan report to your GP for further medical review.
Preparing for Your Scan
To ensure the scan goes as smoothly as possible, wear loose-fitting clothing that enables easy access to your elbow. Also, talk with your GP before scheduling this scan if you are already undergoing medical treatment.
