Gender Scan (16-32 Weeks)
Sonoclinic offers a comprehensive gender scan service for expectant parents eager to find out their baby's sex. The scan can be taken between 16 and 32 weeks of pregnancy. It entails a professional assessment of your baby's gender and a well-being check to ensure your baby's health.
What to Expect During the Gender Scan
Conducted by qualified sonographers with diagnostic experience, the 15-minute appointment encompasses:
- Well-being check: Assessment of your baby's heartbeat to confirm life.
- Gender determination: Professional evaluation of your baby's sex.
- 4DFREEVIEW™ option: Opportunity to view 3D images of your baby.
- Printed diagnostic report: Documentation of the scan findings.
The sonographer can also measure the head circumference to identify the gestational age. If measurements indicate a gestation below 16 weeks, a rescan will be done later. Although every effort is made to ascertain the baby's sex, certain foetal positions may make it challenging; thus, gender determination cannot be guaranteed. It's advisable to consider this when planning any gender reveal events in order to avoid potential disappointment.
How to Prepare for Gender Scan
- If you are under 20 weeks pregnant, make sure your bladder is full before your appointment by drinking one litre of water and refraining from urinating.
- Put on a two-piece attire (such as a top with pants or skirt) to make it easy for the provider to access your abdomen.
